Nespresso continues to invest in coffee excellence

Nestlé Nespresso SA today confirmed that it will begin work on its long-planned expansion of the Nespresso Production and Distribution Centre in Avenches (Switzerland). This expansion will bring the total Nespresso investment in Avenches to more than CHF 400 million on completion.

Nespresso will continue to make substantial strategic investment in our high-quality Swiss production capability,” said Richard Girardot, CEO of Nestlé Nespresso SA. “This investment will enable us to deliver on our planned growth in the years ahead.”

Set to finish in 2012, the extension phase of the Nespresso facility in Avenches confirms the Nespresso commitment to coffee excellence and underscores its continuing investment in quality. This sustainable, high-performance facility will double its production capacity in the next three years, while maintaining its ability to enhance the quality of the coffee that Nespresso coffee experts blend, roast and grind on site.

Plans to construct the “Nespresso Centre of Coffee Excellence” were first announced in 2006. To meet the expected growth in consumer demand in the years ahead, Nespresso had included the extension of the Avenches facility in its original plans. Construction began in 2007 and was completed 18 months later in 2009.
