  • INCAE research on Real Farmer Income™

    INCAE, the leading business school in Latin America, has been working with Nespresso for several years to better understand the economic impact of the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program on coffee growers.

  • AAA Program progress in Central America

    Research from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, showed that farms on the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program that improved sustainability and productivity also increased their incomes.

  • Monitoring the sustainability performance of the AAA Program

    According to a sustainability index, farmers in the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program in Colombia have improved their overall social, environmental and economic performance. Since 2009, Nespresso AAA farms have enjoyed 22.6% better social conditions, 52% better environmental conditions, and 41% better economic conditions than comparable farms.


    • New use of technology solutions for recycling

      In France, Nespresso co- founded the Club du Recyclage des Emballages Légers en Aluminium et Acier (or CELAA – Club for Aluminium and Steel Light Packaging) in 2009. As part of CELAA, Nespresso is implementing new technology solutions to recycle small-scale aluminium packaging, including used capsules.


      • Life cycle assessment comparative study

        In 2011, Quantis, a team of world-leading experts in the field of environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) conducted an LCA comparative study. This study aimed to understand the environmental impact of different capsules that can be used in a Nespresso machine.

      • Eco-monitoring with IUCN

        We are investing in a solid, integrated and long-term measuring and reporting program for our sustainability performance, particularly in the coffee countries of origin. This includes a new eco-monitoring project with International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
