Onirio, the fragrant Limited Edition for Spring 2011, is a unique sensory-led coffee development by Nespresso, offering all coffee lovers a surprising and indulgent new coffee tasting moment.

Onirio offers a new threshold of sensory enjoyment through the sophisticated flowery aromas, expertly paired with a remarkable dense body. This unique creation reveals a tasting experience that unveils different levels of surprise and delight, all in one exceptional coffee.

Nespresso Coffee Experts have skillfully selected, perfectly blended and carefully roasted the finest coffees from Ethiopia. Onirio is a blend composed of two Arabicas from the Sidama region, located in the south-west of Ethiopia: the Arabica from Sidamo and the Arabica from Yrgacheffe. The Arabica from Sidamo has naturally flowery notes with a full rounded body. The Arabica originating from Yrgacheffe is gentle and soft on the palate with floral, slightly spicy aromatic notes, as well as a hint of citrus-fruit aromas.

In the first instance, Onirio will take coffee afficionados on a sensory journey through the scent of flowery notes. This extraordinary coffee releases a remarkable bouquet of white flowers, reminiscent of jasmine and orange blossom.

The tasting experience of Onirio will then heighten and complement the sense of delight, as the unique balance of in-cup flavours is revealed. While the flowery aromas blossom, the roasted notes become apparent and reveal a dense yet velvety body.

In order to achieve the smooth combination of these flavours, the Nespresso Roasting Experts chose the split-roasting technique, consisting of the separate roasting of two types of coffee to extract the best aromatic quality of each Arabica. The intensive roasting of the Arabica from Sidamo favours the development of roasted notes, while maintaining the flowery character, giving the blend a full, rounded body. A light roasting of the Arabica from Yrgacheffe brings out the flowery notes, providing the blend with a hint of freshness, thanks to its citrus-fruit notes. Best served in an espresso cup (40ml), and ranking at an intensity level 5, the combination of various sensorial dimensions in one spring-like coffee will offer a true moment of delight for coffee connoisseurs around the world. Sealed in a pearly white capsule to keep all its aromas intact, Onirio will be available worldwide from 18 April, 2011.

Onirio Limited Edition Cup
To complement the unique tasting experience of Onirio, a Limited Edition espresso cup will be launched this spring. Designed by Christian Ghion, the elegant espresso cups reflect the delicate flowery nature of Onirio by displaying a light floral pattern on the cup as imagined by the French creative studio Onze Dixième. A set of 2 espresso cups and saucers will be available from mid-April.
