Nespresso will once more play an exclusive part as Official Partner at the 66th Cannes Film Festival in 2013. In addition to the prestigious Grand Prix Nespresso, this year’s festival sees the return of the Plage Nespresso, allowing select guests to enjoy the atmosphere of Cannes during the festival with an exceptional coffee experience.

2013 is the sixth consecutive year that Nespresso has partnered with the Cannes Film Festival, underpinning its involvement with the most notable and important creative fields.

Creating exclusive moments to celebrate cinema

For the third year running, La Semaine de la Critique will announce the winner of its “Grand Prix Nespresso” – a highly prestigious award recognising the best debut film from a director. The influential Semaine has a reputation for uncovering great directorial talents and its international jury has previously discovered leading names including Jeff Nichols, screenwriter and director of “Take Shelter.”

Following last year’s success when the Plage Nespresso was one of the festival’s most glamorous and sought-after haunts, Nespresso is again hosting this year its own exclusive beach area for Club Members and VIPs on the Croisette’s iconic Plage du Festival. Designed by renowned French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, the Plage will feature two Nespresso bars, an elegant lounge area and an interview area with views across the town’s famous bay. With a dining capacity for 160 guests, the VIP space will host daily an exclusive morning breakfast event entitled “Morning After” for Club Members, guests and media.

“At Nespresso we foster a spirit of innovation combined with a focus on highest quality. The Cannes Film Festival is also about celebrating creative excellence and in an exclusive atmosphere. As such Nespresso is most proud to support the extraordinary work the festival does in supporting superior film making,” said Guillaume Le Cunff, Director of International Marketing at Nestlé Nespresso SA. “We are delighted to bring back the Plage Nespresso as one of the most elegant and exclusive event locations where the festival can be enjoyed.”

Some 220 Nespresso machines will be on site throughout the festival grounds to serve an estimated 180,000 Grand Cru coffees to festival stars and guests during the event. Dropping in for a break between festival screenings, visitors will be able to enjoy the sunshine and a delicious cup of Nespresso Grand Cru.

A partner to the creative industries

Now in its 66th year, this year’s Cannes Film Festival runs from May 15 to 26, 2013 and is world renowned for its coveted awards and the outstanding talent it draws. The Nespresso activities at the festival form part of the company’s Ultimate Events – a series of exclusive occasions within creative industries, covering areas as diverse as sport, through to cinema and Haute Cuisine.
